Cautionary tale here. Be careful out there.

Sad and I hope he makes a full recovery
But don't meet during night time to sell a car, even less at a grave yard.

If you have to, go to a Tesco or the likes car park where there is plenty of lights and cameras

    Common sense really

No cameras in Tesco car parks - well there definitely wasn't any when my wife was mugged in our local Tesco car park and I'd imagine that it's the same in others.

That grave yard is directly on the main street, well lit and with several businesses around.

I've heard of similar when going to buy a car. Pull up to location and a few people surround you saying you have €€€ to buy a car hand it over.

At the least the person in the OP has the sense to say they were assaulted. A friend had car taken on a test drive but got nothing from insurance as they handed over the keys, expensive lesson.

    Car Insurance companies disgust me.

The car was STOLEN end of. Why does it matter if it was stolen by deceit or stolen by breaking and entering?

A STOLEN car is a stolen car and they should pay up.

It seems like Insurance companies will use any excuse under the sun to not pay out ... and then they don't even refund you your premium. WTF is the point in even paying insurance if you are going to be out of pocket either way.

What if they held a knife to your to your throat and asked you to hand over the keys? What do insurance companies expect you to do???

I was wondering what happens if you have UK reg down here and someone drives off in it when they are test driving it . If you where going to try and sell that day 10/1 all the VRT docs & other documents for the sale would be in the car so the thief would have all of the legal papers for it with them . Also who do you report the theft to Garda / PSNI ??? Can anything actually be done with insurance company, would they pay out on a UK reg car
