Hi, I've a mirror that weighs 20KG that I wish to hang on a wall which is insulated slab (from memory its approx 70mm thick). What would be the best method or fixing for this?

Previously I've used spring toggles for similar but as its insulated slab the toggles won't be able to spring open. There are no studs either as the slabs were fixed to the block wall behind using anchors. Will I have to drill all the way to the block wall for a fixing? Would hollow wall anchors do the job?

Just use long screws straight into the block behind.

there are extra long GripIt fixings available - never used one, but they can take serious weights
nvrmnd, prob not suitable as straight to blockwork

For that type of application, I've used frame fixings screws which are long screws with accompanying plugs designed for fixing door and window frames to concrete blocks. Just choose the length so that the expanding part of the plug is within the block behind the insulation, for example I've used 100mm screws for 50mm insulated plasterboard cladding. They are quite thick so they don't flex much but if you notice any then use a bigger screw or more of the same type.

I recently put up a heavy mirror myself. I used a wooden french cleat, that came with the mirror, but used 8mm frame fixings to secure the cleat to the wall and standard screws into the mirror. I've also mounted a TV bracket to a insulated wall using 10mm frame fixings.
