Never been self employed but need a TRCN1 form?

Hi, I am very poor when it comes to my tax returns but I have been told I need to fill in a tax form called a TRCN1.

I have been trying through tax sites to claim tax back as I would not have an idea about such things but have always been told I couldn't, thought nothing of it as I just thought I was not due anything. It turns out the Revenue think I am self employed and I now need to fill in a TRCN1 form!

I have never been that, Ive worked with the same company for the past 14yrs! I have never claimed tax back through my naivety. Would I be able to claim tax back over these years over a potential mistake on my/their part?

How could they think I was self employed too, it says since 2012 I have been. I am completely confused by this situation.

    Anyone have any idea why?

Call Revenue and ask them to check when you supposedly registered as self employed with them? Could simply be an error. You can claim back any tax refund you are entitled to for past 4 years, not everyone is entitled to tax back so you might not have missed out on anything.
