Nah, the cousin arrested people and was in court all the time too. They do plenty. Thefts, assaults, rowdies, traffic crashes, all the normal stuff. Then all the airline side of it too, people kicking off on the plane. He said you are just the same as PSNI Officer, only your area is just at the airport. Not outside of it.

absolutely no pathway to the psni? I know the psni have recruited from the harbour police previously. At the very least it would surely do no harm in having experience in a role that is very similar to a community officer.

PSNI no longer take transfers from any force for constable level. If you wanted to join PSNI at a later stage youd be the same as everyone else applying.
Obviously if you have extra training etc it would be took into consideration after you finish GV. But there isn't much training that would swap across.
As the airport police is a private police force and not governed by the home office there is limited specialisation e.g. no longarms, dog handler etc. These are all handled by PSNI.

I know this to be incorrect as interest circulars for level transfers have been floating about UK forces to go into the PSNI recently. May just be a contingency if the 1710 campaign doesn't place enough people quick enough but they do take transfers.

However you WILL have had to have complete your probation in said GB force.

Well you've been told different from me. I've been told directly that they won't accept direct transfers at constable level.
But then again, knowing what we have been told doesn't mean knowing lol.

The PSNI has never accepted 'transfers' from Belfast Harbour Police. Much like the Airport Constabulary, BHP are not recognised as a police force under the Police Act and are not governed by either the Home Office or a devolved administration. They are essentially private security outfits with police powers.

Officers from BHP have moved to the PSNI, but they are brought in as probationers and not transferees. Their service in BHP would only be recognised for pay purposes.

I haven't heard anything about this, and I would say the PSNI would struggle to get significant numbers of transferees applying. They last recruited transferees from GB in 2012 and it was a disaster. They essentially lied about allowing people in specialist roles being allowed to stay in them (recruiting firearms officers on the previso that they would go straight into firearms units and then dumping them in response at undesirable stations, etc). Most went back, and I don't blame them.

Hence the interest circulars, they haven't pulled the trigger yet.

If this campaign doesnt get the results they need then the PSNI has a tough choice.

Either refuse potential retirees the retirement of their choice and prepare for Industrial tribunals galore or request mutual aid officers to make up for the lost manpower

Has anyone attended an interview for the airport police or fireservice ? I have an interview for the Belfast international airport fire service on Thursday just wondering if anyone has tips or pointers or what kind off questions will be asked, as i can't seem to find much guidance online.

    Well Steve,

From what I can remember the questions were the basic give us a time when you worked as a team those sorts, what let me down was not fully explaining the job description, they focused on it and also just the general duties you think are associated with the role. Never seen the fire recruiting you waiting long for a call?!
    Thanks
    Peter.
