Who has the right of way at this junction. Both lights turn green at the same time.

The cars turning left as they are on correct side.

The opposite side should wait till clear. Reason for this set up is very little comes to turn right.

I would have said the cars turning left, as you yield to traffic coming from your right (assuming no other factors being in play).

Thanks punisher. It's a bit tricky there at rush hour. I've gotten a few stares from drivers turning right as if they have right of way.

That post has confused me. Do I yield to cars turning right?

The cars coming from the north are crossing over onto those that are going north.

The way I see it is be very careful and use the similar rule to merge safely.

I look at it this way.... Left 1, right 1 and so on as to keep a nice flow and to also have some courtesy to other road users.

The yellow box junction suggests to me that those turning Left are not to be impeded, as you are not supposed to enter a yellow box, without the ability to exit. Granted, the exception you are expected to quote in a test, is when turning right, you can enter the yellow box while awaiting the opportunity to complete the turn once you are not obstructing traffic. But there is nowhere for someone turning right to wait within the yellow box.

If they receive a green light, they really should be getting a flashing Amber / Yield sign, to clearly outlay the expectations.

You are allowed to wait on the yellow box to turn right. At a junction like this a good rule of thumb is that those who have priority are those going straight ahead and those who do not need to drive across a lane of oncoming traffic to complete their turn.

But the yellow box is in only where the oncoming traffic would turn left. You'd have to be completing the turn to the right to be in it. From what I can see, their is no room to wait in it on that junction.

Its a good practice to proceed but each side let a car in and do like a lane merge going from 2 to 1 where left takes lane then right then left etc....

One can't go north at that junction. All 4 lanes north of the junction are one way (southbound).

As you said in an earlier post, very little traffic travelling southbound would be turning right (as they would only be going back into a one way clockwise vicious circle) and presumably that is why the traffic light system is set up that way.

North as in to the left it is north as can only go north due to traffic layout.

    This is correct answer.
If there was an accident Gardai would be working from this rule to establish who is at fault.
