Just wondering if any of you have any experience of Swan cctv equipment that Maplin sell. Seems quite good and I'm tempted to buy. Love to hear your opinions.

It's DIY stuff. No professional would install it. Have a look at Hikvision gear, good quality and their entry level stuff is great.

If the stuff was that good then Maplin would use it in their own shops, they don't AFAIK.

    Does that suggest anything?

Hikvision is what most professionals use.

I appreciate that advice. I am looking to install a cctv system on a property that is 120k from home so I will need access to it from my smartphone. I will need six cameras and was thinking of installing an 8 channel in case I need more. What else should I be aware of before I purchase. I would appreciate all advice

HIkvision all the way. Remote access is a standard feature now that would be on all machines.

    So what?
This is a DIY forum and I very much doubt the OP is a professional.
Anyway, I disagree as I know a number of very good professionals on this forum that use HIK.

    Back to the OP:
I think the future is recording to the cloud. If your broadband is up to it the Circle 2 are fantastic with full 1080p.

Another option are the Nest cameras. For €5 a month or €50 a year you will can add 24/7 continuous recording and intelligent alerts.

If you post on the Home Automation forum they can help you too.

I'm delighted you know a number of very good professionals.

Your fully entitled to disagree.....it's the internet .....everyone has an opinion.....even me.

    Do some research on HIK
