    Hi
I went for a job interview last Monday 9th October. They said they would be back in touch, either way ie positive or negative,by the end of the week re next steps - but I have heard nothing yet...
I rang the recruiter this morning, but they havent returned my call.
Not sure now I am as confident as I was leaving the interview - Soooo disillusioned as it was a role I loved the sound of..
Doesnt sound too positive now does it?

    :-(

    Recruitment agency or recruitment department?

My own office has been pretty much upside down the last two days given the events so I'd follow up with an email to the recruiter.

I went for a job interview once, they told me the same as you OP.

3 and a half weeks later they rang back offering me the position.

    Don't lose hope yet.

Thanks for your replies...It was via a recruitment agency, so it is feasible that the events of the last few days have played havoc with their schedules!
Thanks too Cork Truck Driver - I wont give up just yet....Just not good with the waiting game....just want to know either day so I can move on :-)

A quick mail to the agency won't do any harm

I have also been in the same boat. And it's very, very frustrating.

Promises of two weeks feedback can stretch far beyond that.

In our lives, the job can be the most important thing imaginable. Waiting for that call.

For a large corporation, you could be one candidate in an organisation of hundreds. Ergo a number on a list. And HR aren't always the quickest off the mark. Maybe their office was shut by Hurrucane Ophelia for a few days.

If the waiting period becomes ridiculously long, a polite email or phone call might be in order. "Great to interview with Joe on xx October. Is there any feedback on the role"?

Stay friendly. Don't lose patience. Don't badger them.

The vast majority of companies never ring you back. It's more often than not that you hear nothing at all.

Give a while and ring them.

But, get used to not being called by a company. That's bog standard in Ireland.

I did an interview in July this year and didn't get offered it until September! Definitely don't give up hope yet.

Move on. Start applying for other jobs. It'll take your mind off the wait at least.

Completely not out of the game, Could be any number of reasons your not responded too yet.

They might have other people to interview before making up their mind,
HR may be on leave or even overloaded,
    May even be an oversight.

Wait another while and if there's nothing after another few days ring company ask to get through to HR and ask for a follow up mail.
