As titled. How do you fine folks unroll barb wire alone? It's rough, wet and soft ground so a bar on the link arms won't do.
    Nightmare of a job.
The old crowbar method I'm stuck with I'm guessing and battle on

Bought a tool for that job on Donedeal off a lad in tullamore about ten years ago. It has a handle for pulling, a bar for the wire to sit on and two small wheels. Anyone handy with a welder could make one.

Cheers Tanko, I was a coded welder some years ago so think I'll manage that.
I've an image in my head of what you're talking about.

That's about it, with two vice grips locked on the bar to stop the roll running out to one side and desecrating the hands and a pair of the big red welding gloves just in case

I bought one these for €5 or so at the ploughing one time. No idea where I put it. Just a hook with a swivel handle. Simple but works.

I made something similar that bolts onto the front weight of the tractor.
I had about 600mm of 1" pipe with a large base plate on the other end i welded 20mm threaded bar.
With 2 lock nuts the pipe bolts onto the front weight and the roll of wire will spin freely on the base plate.
Either pull put the wire manually or tie onecrnd and reverse away from it.

We made a frame here to go on 3pt linkage.. Frame off an old power harrow which the bed had been removed from... juzst bolted an eight foot length of channel to.. Used an old bearing that we welded a u framed bracket to which can be swaped from side to side depending on what direction your driving around the field. I hope my description makes scence but we can unroll and un kink the wire at the same time.... just use a vise grips to clamp wire and the handbrake to tension just right..

That's what I've been doing but there's got to be an easier way especially over bad ground. The crowbar is fine on good ground
