8 weeks old kittens refuse to eat - what do I do?

    Guys,

    I need some help urgently.
We have taken two 8 weeks old kittens from animal shelter Sunday week ago, so guys are 9 weeks old now. They were OK-ish for two days and then started to refuse to eat anything. I'm forcing them to drink cat's milk with syringe as they don't want to eat. One developed diarrhea today and is vomiting all what I can manage to put into him. Both are lethargic and don't want to play. We didn't give them any human food apart from slice of ham and a bit of fish (sardines). For first two days they were on dry food, then we switched them to wet food for kittens. What do I do? Is there any hope in vet? Is there any vet open near Navan?

    Please help.

Have you tried them with the dry again?

Dry food is available to them all the time. It is royal canin mothers & baby cat food stage one. They won't have eat.

Ham and sardines are not suitable for kittens; way to much salt and sodium respectively; chicken meat without skin if you're giving human food. Anyway; seeing how they are not playing, not eating etc. I'd guess they caught something and or are simply being stressed. Cooked chicken meat in very small portions (and no bones!) and bringing them to a vet for a health check is your best bet; could be several different things but a vet is your best bet asap. Honestly they should have gone to a vet last week already as a kitten being lethargic requires a vet visit if it goes beyond a day.

Keep up with the kitty milk but give smaller quantities and more often instead and see how they react to it. Even 2ml if they keep it down is better than nothing.

    Nody's advice is spot-on.

I would also have contacted the rescue as soon as these kittens got sick.
