    IMDB

I saw this yesterday having seen a good review for it in Sight & Sound, but without having seen any trailers. Which is a good thing, as the teaser trailer below sets the tone for the film but the main trailers give away a bit more than they need to.

I thought it was a really enjoyable horror-comedy - strong performances and writing at the core of it, with the sense of a believable friendship between Jim & Alex, backed up confident direction and tone. The opening titles were fantastic, a lovely combination of retro horror/slasher homage and effective scene-setting to establish certain details a d character motivations.

Didn't know anything about the film either and had a blast.

The tone can be uneven and is skirting on thin ice at times, and feels like it's about to go off a cliff at one point.

But the characters are fun and likable, some genuine laugh out loud moments (and some disgusting too) & all coming in at 89 mins, which is always a bonus in my book.

Some very funny scenes. As was mentioned above it's close at times to being downright rubbish but pulls it back in each time. Don't expect too much of it and you'll enjoy it.
