Public service graduate jobs and citizenship

Hi all, I just saw a link on Facebook about graduate administrative jobs in the public service. It states you have to be a graduate with a first or 2:1. I have this, although I am not an Irish citizen yet. I qualify (stamp 5 long-term residency) but haven't applied.

Will I have to wait till I get the citizenship to apply? Also, are those that are successful offered jobs in their county or are you expected to move if needs be?

    Thanks in advance.

Page 4 of the AO booklet says:
    https://www.publicjobs.ie/publicjobs/campaignAdvert/61255.htm
    Citizenship Requirement
Applicants should note that only citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) may be appointed to the advertised position, should they come under consideration. The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union along with Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Swiss citizens under EU agreements may also apply. Applicants must therefore meet this eligibility requirement at the time they are being considered for appointment.

So.. without knowing where you are from, the best answer I can see is.. it depends on where you are from.

I'm not from an EEA country but quality for citizenship as I have lived here 17 years. May be time to apply for it. I've been putting it on the long ginger given the cost E1,000.

Thanks for your reply. I thought maybe if you were in the process of getting citizenship you may apply. Never mind. :)

But you're not in the process of getting citizenship? The process takes six months on average so you wouldn't even be a citizen by the time the recruitment campaign concludes.

I know that, but when I was waiting renewal of my gnib card, as long it was in the process it was ok to remain living here.

I'll ring and speak to them this week and see what they say. No harm in getting official word on the situation so I know going forward.
