    Quick Question all -

    Gross Income 24k
Getting a €2 500 bonus on 25th October which will be credited to me as part of my normal paycheck.

Is there a way to calculate how much of the €2 500 will taxed in advance of it. Pretty much so I don't feel like shít when I see how much does get taxed!

Well it is your marginal rate. On your income thats 20% Pays and the rest. Not more than 25% anyway.

Expect in and around 30% to be taken based on your earnings.

I generally just cut it in half. It won't be half in your instance but at least you'll be prepared for worst (only half) but relieved when it's less than half that they've taken off you

    Cheers guys.

I have in my head that anything above €1 700 I'm doing very well.

Just wanted to check up is all!

If it puts her over her monthly cut-off, though, will she not be taxed at the higher rate on that portion of it and have to reconcile it with a P21 next year? It's happened me in the past.

    Thanks for the above

From what I can gather from my payslip, my monthly cut-off is €2816.66

Would any of the bonus (after getting added to my normal income) below that amount be taxed at the lower rate and then any going above it be taxed at the higher rate?

Your cut off is €2816.66 but as you earn €2000 a month you have a "leftover" of €816.66 each month so this can be used towards your €2500 bonus and keep the full amount taxed at the lower rate of 20%. The cut off is a cumulative figure month on month and any unused can be carried forward in the same tax year.

Basically your monthly income for october will be 4500. So €2816.66 will be taxed at 20% and the balance of €1683.34 will be at the higher rate of 40%. You can do a balancing statement (P21) in Jan and it will refund any over payment of tax for this year.

If the OP is on the cumulative basis then they will have a build-up of unused SRCOP.

10 months of SRCOP is 28167.
Gross pay to Oct (not including bonus) is 20000.

Provided that the OP hasn't received any other bonuses this year, none of the 2500 will be taxed at the higher rate.

Therefore the marginal rate of tax is 29% (assuming 5% marginal USC rate) and the OP will receive net €1,775 of the bonus.

Ya, I've received no other bonuses this year yet (bar some months where I have done overtime and received 1.5x per hour OT worked).

Fingers crossed anyway. Like I said earlier - Anything above €1700 I'd be v happy....Or should I say...the missus would be thrilled

Cheers for the responses on this lads.

Paycheck was online today and I'm actually delighted with it. By my calculations I'm getting around €1800 or so.

If ye'd like to see the paycheck I can post up the screenshot with anything personal blocked out? Might interest some of you.

OP in future, you might ask about vouchers (small gift exemption), you can receive 1 voucher a year of up to 500 euros from your employer tax free (e.g. one for all) .

Which would have left only 2000 at your tax rates. Which would roughly equate to €1920 overall including voucher.
