Shot clock

That's annoying. 40 friggin seconds!! Count that out in your head and imagine your playing partner standing over the ball for that length. Should be maximum 20 seconds.

Even when they introduced that shot clock at the GolfSixes even, they initially started at 40 seconds but reduced it down to 30 soon after.

At what point does the clock start ticking? Is it from the point when it's your turn to play?
From watching golf recently, it seems to me that most time is wasted by players consulting the voluminous notes they carry around or indulging in long chats with their caddies when it's their turn to play.
I think the fairest way to apply this rule would be to let the referee decide when a player has had enough time to assess the shot and then audibly call "Time". The player would then have to play their shot within, say, 20 seconds; otherwise a penalty stroke is added for that hole.

Better off if they made players responsible for making their own rule decisions and live with the consequences, to be a professional and call referees for the most basic of rulings is crazy.
Don't even mention Serio's 30 minute ruling last week when he was looking for everything to avoid taking a penalty he deserved...
