Second hand Lexus NX 300h or new Peugeot 3008?

I'm having a dilemma. Looking at replacing the two cars we own now with one of the above. The Lexus NX 300h would be 2-3 years old with low enough mileage (approx 30k miles) imported from UK. As an alternative I'm considering the new 3008 1.2 auto in GT-line trim. All in all very similar cars in terms of equipment levels, power, fuel economy, size etc. Lexus is definitely more luxurious, but Peugeot has more modern interior. The main difference is that bringing the car from UK I need all cash, Peugeot can be gotten in PCP deal.

What would yu chose and why? Maybe I should look at other alternatives?
    Thanks.

There’s a big difference in power on paper at least. 129 vs 195bhp.

There is a big difference in weight too. 1.45t vs 1.75t.

Can the above car be bought?

I know there was an embargo on that specific trim, I don't know if it was lifted. There is an embargo on the 5008 trim for definite, even though price list might lead you to believe its available.

1.2 Auto Allure is definitely available

Umm heard that about the 5008 too. I have a feeling you'll be kept waiting! Until you have a successful order in, I wouldn't count my chickens..

Other than the cash upfront issue, have you asked yourself why you would choose a three-year old car over a new one?? Is it the cachet of driving a Lexus? Is it comfort levels, ride or what?

Personally if they are the same price with roughly equivalent equipment levels, performance and cost to run, I'd choose a new car every time.

Don't care about the badge (as you can tell from considering Lexus and Peugeot), but Lexus makes the best seats in the business, plus I like the hybrid tech. These are really the only reasons why it is a contender against a brand new car.

This is how I would see it, the Lexus has a large unstressed engine helped out by a hybrid system that is bombproof and a gearbox that is simplicity itself. and because of silly emissions cycle testing comes in at a low tax band, while still returning good enough fuel economy.
The Peugeot is a small capacity engine with a turbo strapped on putting out a relatively high bhp per litre and a torque converter. I would put money on the Lexus doing 10 years without issue but wouldn't be anywhere near as confident with the turbo engine.

Worth noting that the RAV4 hybrid has the same drivetrain.

The Lexus. Its better looking (subjective), more luxurious, has a better badge for what that's worth, will depreciate less, better drive train and will almost certainly be more reliable.

The fascination with new boggles the mind some times. The only benefit to it in your case would be the process would be easier but on the other hand you will save a fair few quid going to England.

Lexus for me as well, because it shouldn't give any sort of trouble and should resale better. I'm pretty certain it'll be more comfortable -especially when it comes to noise isolation- as well.

    Only out now right

My wife is looking at a 5008

    I've a is300H 2014 now .

It's quiet and a much nicer drive.

The NX would be similar enough. Less bhp by about 30

We've the enquiry in for the 1.6 auto petrol
165 bhp. I think the 1.2 will be overworked too. Can't get them anyway

Skoda superb Combi is her other option, she prefers it to the kodiac

I'd look at the RAV hybrid too

It wouldn't even be a discussion

I'd take a 10 year old Lexus over a new Peugeot
