What’s the best car check website out there. The car is a uk import with a UK reg? Buying from a dealer here in Ireland

As some sites are considerably cheaper than others

    GOV.UK

It's free. You can tell if it's been taxed and pull up all the recent MOT history from it.

    Tax
    https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/

    MOT History

    https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

You won't get crash history from this however.

Would a basic check be enough or is it best advised to the more expensive check

How much are you spending on the car? The price of a comprehensive history check is tiny in comparison to the value of most car purchases.

€11000 is the price of the car. I suppose when u put it in that context, what’s an extra €10

A hpi check will only check the uk reg and the op said it's on irish plates now

Uk Reg should be on the VLC

Yes but neither the vlc or HPI will give you the history of the car since it was registered in Ireland after it left the uk.... Irish Reg into motorcheck will give you Irish and uk history (and finance if you choose) in 1 report

That's what I mean if Op gets UK reg from VLC, he / she can then do a proper HPI check

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but didn't feel my query warranted another thread.

I used http://www.cardatachecks.co.uk/ and it says the vehicle I am looking at has had 2 Cherished VRM changes (no date for either). This is just a plate change and not to be concerned about, right? I will do a full check, just wanted to check about this aspect before going ahead with it.
