    Hi I bought a C4 Picasso last Jan 17 with only 4k on clock(its 162 reg)
the front left shock absorbers seem to be gone as there is a knocking when driving. Just wondering does anyone know if this is covered under their 5 year warranty?

Very unlikely, they would usually be classed under wear and tear consumables unless it can be proved that they prematurely failed due to a defective part. Recommended to change them in pairs too on the same axle, to avoid an imbalance.

Not unless it’s a manufacturing defect. Which it probably is.

It's a funny one. Some manufacturers point blanc won't cover shocks, others don't seem to take any issue. I've no first hand experience with Citroen though.

Any that I've seen that do cover shocks only pay to replace the failed unit and won't pay to replace a pair.

That said, how do you know the shock is gone and that it isn't the shock top mount or a wishbone rubber, ball joint etc? I'd book it in for a knocking noise and hope for the best. I'd surely do that before I open my wallet.

Thank you all for replies, had it in for standard service today and they said it was shock and part was ordered, didn't think to ask about warranty as I was too busy asking why they needed to fill up add blue by 7 liters when i had it in garage in August for that very reason!

Probably because it uses adblue when you drive the car.

That would be my guess anyway.

If they've ordered the part and havn't asked for or mentioned money yet then I'd expect they are covering it. They're not likely to order a non stock item without organising payment first.

A shock replacement after 4k would be hard to put down to wear, no way would I accept it as not being covered.

Around a litre each 1000 km.

IF the shock is faulty after 4,000km and provided it hasn't been damaged, it will be covered under Citroen warranty. Citroen do consider shocks to be wear items but 4,000km is well below that limit.

EDIT: The OP seems to indicate that you bought the car with 4,000km on it. If so, how many kms on it now?

Thank you all for replies. Just to clarify it had just 4 km on it when I bought it not 4,000. There is 26,000 on the clock now. Citroen are replacing both under warranty so I'm delighted.
@R.O.R I am aware ad blue is used due to driving it's the amount used I was questioning, could do without smart arse remarks like that

AdBlue consumption is much like fuel consumption - it varies depending on the type of driving.

Your C4 Picasso will warn you when it gets low and tell you how many kms of driving are left before starting will be prevented. No harm to pick up a small bottle of AdBlue from your dealer/local service station and keep it in the boot. You can easily top it up yourself - the filler cap is located in the boot and top up instructions can be found in the owners manual.

Yes the warning did come up end of August and I went into dealer to buy ad blue as its my first car with it. They told me it needed to be done in their service dept as it could invalidate my warranty.I duly booked in my car and they charged me €90 for it. Total rip off and I will be doing it myself from now on. Thanks for reply.

Your mileage seems about right for a top up of AdBlue but the 'invalidating warranty' is complete rubbish. I'm not sure of the cost of AdBlue but €90 sounds a bit expensive - maybe others could confirm. A C4 Picasso AdBlue tanks holds 17 litres.

I know I seem like I am repeating myself but if I got it topped up in Aug after driving 25,000 km can't see how I would need another 7 litres after only 1000km . Just feel it's another rip off from garage. The ad blue cost €31 and rest was labour out of the €90!!!

I suppose that depends on how much was filled into the AdBlue tank in August - was it filled or was it partially filled. You probably have no real way of knowing.

Was told it was filled completely. Anyway, at least my shocks are paid for

    €90 sounds very saucey.

Do these still use the colostomy bag attached underneath the vehicle or is the adblue user friendly now?

If it's user friendly charging anything more than 15 minutes labour is chronic. Invalidating the warranty is also not true. You can buy it at the pumps now at some Topaz'.

    €90 is nuts.

Open tank. Connect pipe. Drain in via gravity. It's a slow drain but it doesn't require an hour of a mechanics time. Nowhere near it.

You are confusing Eolys with AdBlue. AdBlue was always user friendly and is supposed to be filled by user.

I get mine at truck service station, shortly before service. Luckily the dealer told me they did not need to top it, it was full. Same as screen wash. They hate me :D

Eolys is a workshop procedure and would cost a lot more than €90 in a main dealer.

    Maybe, never had the pleasure.

The dealer price for AdBlue would be around €2/l... Can't really see the car needing 45l of it...
