Social Welfare repayment/Applying for Mortgage

I am planning on starting to save for a mortgage with my wife. We recently got married. At the moment I owe the social welfare a sum of money from an over payment on the disablity allowence for about 12 months a number of years back.( I started off working back partite then gradually took more hours) I informed them of the work by letter but the said they never received it, I make monthly repayment's of €80 a month.
But I'm wondering will this affect my chances of getting a mortgage or will the soval welfare find out and demand I repay more money?
    Thanks in advance.
