Opel Corsa -loss of engine power

So Corsa today started causing me problems. 131 1l city

Was stuck in traffic and noticed that the car seemed to be shuddering a little and slightly jerking forward. Also thought it was higher idle revs (just under 10s i think).

so I pulled off, next minute the engine warning light started flashing and it felt like the car couldnt accelerate properly, like it had no power. Felt like there was something slowing it.

I managed to limp it home. It could barely do 60 going up any kind of slight incline...max it would go to (even down an incline) was about 80kmh. I'm guessing some sort of override system kicked in to limit speed/power.

Car has circa 60k km on it and is due a service in dec. No issues with oil...seems fairly full.

anybody experience something similar and might know what has happened?

And more importantly whats it going to cost me :(

It could be a problem with the timing chain - as far as I know those Corsa's are chain driven - or it could also be a faulty sensor(either camshaft or crankshaft). The first mentioned of those is an expensive repair job alright, around six hundred euro.

So took it to the garage this morning. Started fine & drove fine (while cold). When it warmed up problems started again.
I'm thinking it might be the airflow meter?

So just got a call back from garage.

fault code is P0300 - needs a new coil pack.

That sounds a lot for that kind of repair. Was it a main dealer?
