I know this has come up before - but at the second attempt - this simply doesnt work. Its very frustrating. First one cost a few dollars - this one cost £20 from amazon and was recommended on one of the forums.

Is there any bricks and mortar shop I can walk into that will sell one of these?

Failing that - can anyone send on a link (preferably to somewhere that can deliver relatively quickly rather than the slow boat from China) to a known good dongle?

I use this one BUT I'm on iOS so I can't confirm it works on Android

I like this one as well because its small and can be left in place. Some of them are long and can be easily hit by your knees when you get in/out of the car.

Its Wifi based and has been flawless for me.

Just note that leaving a bluetooth/wifi OBD2 in place might be an issue as there is a risk that the OBD2 dongle could in some situations drain the 12V battery and leave you unable to start the car.

I've read of loads of 12V battery issues in the Leaf but I don't think anyone was every able to specifically figure out the root cause. There were suggestions that the dongle could do it but I don't think it was ever proven.

This dongle also auto shuts off if no device is communicating with it.

Mine is connected for the last 18 months and no issues yet! Lets see if I eat my words on that one! :)

I have that exact same one and can't get it to connect to the wifi, so they seem very hit and miss.

What lights do you get on it when you plug it into the Leaf?

It should show up in your wifi list as "V-LINK"

When I plug it in, the blue wifi light flashes briefly as does the light next to it and the light with the battery picture is red. No matter what I do, I can't get it to pick up the wifi signal.

And you pressed the power button on the dongle AND the car is turned on?

Once you do that you then go into the wifi section of your phone and you should see V-LINK appear in the wifi list.

If thats not happening I'd say you got a dud and you should return it.

Yep. I'll give it another try over the weekend though. I've had it since July and it worked (albeit with effort) when I got it so I think it's a bit late to return it :(

Im trying to remember the very first time I connected it.... I think you also have to go into the settings in the Leafspy app to associate the wifi (V-LINK) with the app.

Yeah, I did that - that's why it took me so long the first time as I didn't realise I had to and eventually found the help settings with instructions!

And one gotcha is that if you are near your house wifi your phone will probably connect to that first so manually connect to the V-LINK wifi to be sure.

The primary problems are in the 2013-2014 leaf, the 30 kwh doesnt seem to suffer any issues with the 12V battery

The main problem was that the DC DC convertor that charges the battery was prevented from engaging under certain conditions and the battery ran down
