After going without a Merc. main dealership for 6 years galway is getting a dealership - first world problem !
looks like Connollys of Ballina and Sligo are turning their no longer acceptable audi showrooms in Ballybrit into a Mercedes dealership to go alongside their new audi dealership.

mad that the brand had no dealer for such a long time.

Yeah - and it'll be the same premises that Merc last used in Galway for a (fairly brief) time - Cunningham Higgins' old building.

the premises will have to conform to latest Mercedes standards , I wonder will that mean changing layout from 2 floors to one ? how close will new audi place be to Merc. place ? I would say Audi are not exactly overjoyed.
Havent been to Galway for a while but planning to visit soon and will do the rounds of dealers.

Well Connolly's run/own both franchises (Audi and Merc), so I expect they've already cleared it with both Mercedes and Audi before going ahead!!

The (old) Audi place is in a better location to my mind. It's at a major junction, across the road from Western Motors (VW), very visible to a lot of passing traffic. The new building is much further into the same business park. Not visible from the main road and the business park is otherwise very quiet.

I doubt the old place will need much re-fitting out. It was (is) a relatively fresh building, shiny tiles and big glass windows abound. Cunningham Higgins weren't that long in it themselves before it went tits up.
