Someone scraped the bumper on my newly purchased A3

Just got a 2014 A3 and came home to find that outside my apartment someone scraped up the bumper. (obviously while doing a bad job of parallel parking because there was a tonne of space).

I have asked the apartment agency can i review the cameras so i can get a look at the inconsiderate a**hole who did it.

My question is, if i don't find them, is scraping something that can be removed by myself or if someone has a ballpark figure to get it repaired?
    Thanks.

Generally if a panel needs replacing prob range from 100 to 300 Euro

thanks for the feedback. attached a pic of the damage.

it's fairly superficial but still annoying as hell. would replacing be necessary in this case?

anyone know the best course of action if I get the reg? go to the guards?

Its a little pasttime of mine.
Sitting in the shopping centre carpark whilst the Missus is shopping, and just looking at all the inconsiderates bang into other cars with other cars and trollies and just moving off and finding another spot to park without a care in the world.

It may not annoy some people but if it annoys you just get it resprayed . A new bumper will cost more money plus cost to spray .

If you have good video evidence and can prove that a person did indeed do it . You could ask the the guards to pursue it for you .

I know how this feels. I had just bought a Passat CC a couple of years ago and parked it outside the apartment. Hours later I looked out our window and saw a dude pulling a set of drawers out of the back door of their car right beside it. Feeling a bit paranoid about the situation I went out to have a look and sure enough they had thumped the side of my car leaving a nice 5 cent size dent with paint off and all. Was really pissed off. Didn't see those people again. Just put it down to bad luck. It's typical though when you are ever so careful especially after getting something new and you wish to keep it immaculate and all it takes is some careless idiot!

Reckon that would machine polish up very well; close to perfect or perfect - be a cheaper option.

    cheers for the feedback guys

I'm no expert but from the photos that bumper doesn't need to be replaced imo. Best case the scratches maybe able to be compounded/polished back to near original condition or worst case the bumper can be resprayed which would cost around €300.

Sorry to hijack but my car has similar damage. Is there any particular product or service you'd recommend to polish it out?

A good bodyshop should be able to respray just the damaged section of the bumper and blend it in. It should cost nothing close to €300.

Got something similar if not worse repaired on my TT for 150 off a mobile repair service. Was done outside my front door and came out perfect.

Something similar to OP, actually worse, it was like mine was deeper right into the bumper, €120 in Finglas. Went to main dealer (just for the craic), €600. I emailed the dealer back asking what the **** were they even charging me for, and they didnt even bother to reply. They must have been charging me for a new bumper i reckon.

same happened to me in Athlone. I like to park away from cars in the car park, but there is always that one that parks up and mark the car

Where in Finglas if you don't mind me asking? I'm a learner and I unfortunately banged into a neighbour's car while I was reversing and scratched it a little bit and put a small dent in her car but where the dent is it went down to the metal (on the rear bumper but close to the rear door on the drivers side), she's a lovely little old woman and has been nothing but nice about the whole thing but she just came back to me and said her mechanic wants 600 to fix it, I was expecting it to be maybe 200-300 but 600 seems very high to me.

If you damaged the arch it could be about right but it's difficult to say without seeing pics and knowing what type of car it is.

Anyway it's up to the other party to decide where they take their car to be repaired and not you so this other garage in finglas is irrelevant tbh.

    .

Light blast of rubbing compound followed by a good polish.. that's a very superficial scratch.

If i were you I would take it to a spray painters and get quality job done, seening its a pretty new car. If you use t-cut/compound and follow with polish&wax it might do the job but it will always need a polish/wax to restore it or else after a while you will start to notice it.

A least its a large mark in one area. Nothing worse than lost of small dents from car doors.

My neighbour an old fellow had a showroom example of a mark iv escort for years it was his pride and joy. Until a another neighbour got a car. Picture avensis with L plates jamed with kids. Cant drive it, never mind park it , one side only of his car is like it was parked in a golf range. She has recently purchased a new car on pcp no doubt.

So now, i take my fathers big old tipper home. A big Man lorry with a long steel body with plenty of battle scares from the building game.

As often as i can i reverse the lorry next to her car, but i uneven park to one side. From her own doing they have all the tops of the doors in **** from hitting it off the lorry body. What goes around.....

Ive sent you a PM, but probably like another poster says, its up to the lady who owns the car where she wants to get it fixed - id feel the same if it was my car

Any more of this type of "helpful" suggestion will result in a ban. You have been warned about this before
