Are those times start of the sessions or the start of the Sky coverage?

All live on Eirsport as well. :)

Ferrari really need to pull something out of this weekend or surely it's going to be game over.

    This too shall pass.

Session start time from Google calendar.
Yeah Ferrari need some miracles. Btw saw some statistics and if Lewis scores in all remaining races he will put up a record here for most point scoring races in succession.

Nico Rosberg is on the Sky F1 team this weekend, how will he survive all the talking about Hamilton

Looking forward to seeing what he's like. Saw him interviewed in Monaco and seemed like he had potential, wasn't the usual bland stuff he used to come out with when he was a driver

Shame for fans at track that P2 was so wet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,880 ✭✭✭MuddyDog

Yeah wet session was a damp squid. Merc's looking much better and should be decent favorites around here considering it's very Silverstone-esque. I think the bookies have Hamilton too big. 6/4 available! Should be odds on IMO.

That's just racing, no reason to read more into it. It's not some kind of elaborate conspiracy by Mercedes

Hamilton got a penalty for a gearbox in Austria, no?

over the course of the whole season Bottas has been unlucky more than once.

even when Hamilton faltered in Austria Bottas got the victory, so Mercedes still won.

Somehow i don't see Hamilton retiring from any of the remaining races.

Only Ferrari are capable of that.

Massa's gearbox seal in Austin comes to mind.

I read that if Vettel wins all the remaining races he wins the championship and therefore it wouldn't matter if Hamilton was to retire from races or not. Although staying that I don't see Vettel winning all the remaining races.

If Vettel was first with Hamilton second each time Seb would win it by 1 point if i done the maths right.

Hamilton has had some really decent reliability lately. Hasn't he had a points run nearing a record?

Not intentionally saying something negative, but this streak will come to an end. But hopefully before the end of this season to spice things up.

    Last retirement was Malaysia 2016.

The points record is around 27 consecutive races, Kimi holds it i think.

FP3 on at 4am … anyone planning on staying up/getting up to watch it - I certainly am not, I'm not even sure if I want to get up at 7am to watch qualifying so I definitely won't be getting up to watch the final practice session.

I'm just going to watch a replay of qualifying and the race. I won't watch anything live.

Kimi gerabox change. 5 grid place penalty for the race.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,880 ✭✭✭MuddyDog

Nobody near Lewis for Pole. Vettel will start 2nd though as Bottas' penalty means he starts 7th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,474 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

These cars really suit the circuit. Good job from Mercedes, cool track conditions worked for them.

Good to see Button there and Nico too.

Hamilton now has pole for every current F1 circuit - love him or hate him is hard not to admire that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,378 ✭✭✭HighLine

All about the first corner now... if Vettel doesn't get by on the run down to 1, Hamilton will cruise off and turn engine down shortly after. Fingers crossed he has a bad start.

This will be Palmer's last race for Renault

I agree I just thought they would have kept him for the rest of the season and then just release him when his contract finished after the race in Abu Dhabi

Assuming Gasly drives all remaining races and doesn't do well there may be 2 open seats at Torro Rosso considering Kyvat isn't favoured there anymore.

I thought it was clear they wanted rid of him as soon as possible, I'm more surprised he agreed to it. If he wants any chance for a drive anywhere (even outside of F1) surely this does more damage to his prospects than his driving.

Anyway I'm glad to see him gone, I don't rate him at all. He has the personality of a disinterested cat, not once did it ever appear to me that he was enjoying being an F1 driver

I had to laugh at Grosjean's crash in qualy, "something went seriously wrong with the car"

Yeah mate you were driving it, he ran out of talent and blamed the car as he always does.

I wonder could leclerc get a seat for the last three races. Assuming he wraps the F2 title up that is

More so I didn't think red bull would release Sainz early and getting rid of Palmer was subject to getting Sainz early. I'm guessing Renault offered them more money not just to release him early but for the length of the loan.

Well that was an exciting qualifying season. Should be a good race. Some lap by Hamilton. Jenson doing a good job on the commenting and interviews.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Anyone see the F2 race earlier?

Who was the co-commentator? It wasn't Valsecchi it was someone else.

Whoever it was, he was very good, and a welcome change from the over-excitement of Valsecchi

He was actually quite good and his twitter feed is always good for a laugh. Hoping they keep him around, much better than Captain Excitable Valsecchi. He is a right pain in the hole

I have been very disappointed in Grosjean this year. He has been one of my favourite drivers for some time & despite comfortably outscoring Magnussen he has badly left himself down on more than one occasion.

The constant whinging about brakes has grown very tiresome & it is clear his reputation among teams is poor. I think it was the Toro Rosso boss in the last race or two (cant remember the incident) who said that Grosjean is always whinging so take no notice.

The guy has talent to succeed at a top team IMO but I reckon his window has came & gone.

Not looking forward to seeing another procession tomorrow, the gap in the cars performance is too much with the driver and constructors championships over already.
