Any good weightlifting gyms near Dun Laoghaire APART from West Wood / Crunch?

Been a member of Crunch Dun Laoghaire since 2007, use it primarily for weights (both free and machines depending on exercise), and my membership is about to run out. After Crunch was bought by West Wood last year, my membership went up to €575 upfront for the year - it was an increase, but they were renovating and the place massively improved in terms of maintanence, working equipment, having more of everything so less queuing between exercises, etc. Was willing to pay the €575 for renewal.

Just got a letter from them the other day - this year they want more than €800?! It's up to something like €839 or €859 now. Not only that, but my membership is up on October the 15th and they gave me absolutely no notice of an almost €300 increase, with two weeks before I have to either fork out or move to another gym. I have absolutely no intention of paying them a cent over €575, that was already a big increase and again arose without any warning whatsoever.

So with this in mind, I'm looking for another gym in the area. I'm going to give Anytime Fitness a look, but from the looks of their online photos, their strength area is primarily machine based and doesn't seem to have any racks for either squats or bench press - they seem to have a Smith Machine, but seeing as I tend to gym alone, somewhere that has a barbell bench press (with the usual hook or rack for the bar) is a bit of a must for me. So can anyone recommend any other gyms in the area that have a decent free weights setup as well? Checked out Royal Marine but their weights area is a joke.

Going to seriously miss being in a gym which is a ten minute walk from my house, but they can take their €300 increase and cram it up their bollocks. I've seen rent increases in Dun Laoghaire which were less moronic than this. :D

We got a notice about membership increase as well but then when it was renewing time we just paid the same as usual. This was in a different branch of crunch but is there a chance you would try renew and argue the old price
. Other than that I'm no help, don't know any in the area

Realistically, the nearest you're probably looking at is Blackrock...there's a few different places within a a minute or two from each other, a crossfit, TNT gym, Impact...I'd say TNT would probably suit you best from what you said.

Also, if you're looking for weightlifting, there's a club that trains out of CBC Monkstown gym, I think it's Prodigy but I'm not 100%.
