Question about boiler behaviour

I’ve noticed that when my gas boiler’s turned on, it runs for a while, maybe half an hour to 45 mins, then stops, with the light flashing green to show it’s at temperature; the pump keeps running. After a few minutes it comes back on, runs for a few minutes, and stops, and so on.

Is this normal? Everything seems to be working fine, it just comes on and off once it reaches the set temperature. This makes sense, I suppose, if it’s just trying to maintain the set temperature, but I wouldn’t expect it to do it so frequently.

On a related note, what should the temperature be set to, anyway? Currently the dial’s about half way up (there’s no markings on it to say what temperature that is, tho).

That's normal, boiler runs till it reaches temperature, then only switches on every now and again to maintain that constant temperature.

Great, thanks. Always had electric before, so wasn’t sure what it should be doing.

It would be more efficient if you had a room stat fitted.

An if your boiler displays any bad behaviour, make sure to put it on the naughty step.

    Sorry couldn't resist.
