To mark the beginning of our new sub-forum .......... a little fun Competition. Everybody welcome to join in.

Simply post your prediction of the Bitcoin price as you think it will be on Friday Oct 6th at 18:00 hrs.
    NOTE:
    1) Your prediction price MUST be denominated in Dollars.
    2) Entry MUST be posted by Wednesday Oct 4th at 18:00 hours. Any entries after that cut-off time will be void and unconsidered.
    3) No editing of your prediction after you post it.
I will take a screen-shot of the Bitstamp bitcoin price at precisely 6.00 pm on this coming Friday. The winner will be he/she whose prediction is closest.

    The Prize
Nothing fancy or valuable, but it is quite unique. A never-worn (still in packaging) light khaki baseball cap with the Bitcoin logo and a "Just Hodl It" meme. I had these made some time ago; there are only two of them extant -- I have one and you the winner will get the other. :)

Looks like it's going to be either BronsonTB or more likely, rickyjb. It's dropping though in the last few minutes, both have a chance! :)

Thank you to all of you who partook in this little bit of fun !
Everyone was in the ballpark with their predictions -- in a tight range it was always gonna be a matter of luck as to was closest to the final call.

Yes, it does appear at first glance that rickyjb was the nearest to the 6:00pm Bitstamp price. So, well done fella !
If you could PM your postal address -- AND POSTCODE -- I will dispatch your package by mail on Monday morning.

Thank you, again, all of you. :)

interestingly, from a quick scan of the predictions it looks as if most people were overoptimistic ? ( a very quick scan )
Does that say anything for the current sentiment towards cryptos?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,223 ✭✭✭pro_gnostic_8

I think Bitcoiners in general and hodlers in particular are optimistic feens by nature. Optimism is hard-wired into their mindset. :)
Market sentiment on-the-other-hand is more sober, conservative and pragmatic.

Bulls probably just a little too early to the party. Oh well, I didn't win the cap, but my thousands of profit will deliver some comfort!

This thread is only a month old and already BTC is headed for 100% gains over most peoples (optimistic at the time) guesses, the gains are just completely and utterly insane, maybe never to be seen again in our lifetimes in any asset class imo...

And coincidentally I got some wear out of the ultra stylish and comfortable cap today! Thanks again to the comp organiser :)

The performance of Bitcoin is the main reason why I'm baffled by the popularity of the Bitconnect ponzi scheme.

The suckers are tying up invested amounts (as 'loans') for months at a time, and getting about 1% daily interest, why risk the site being shut down and losing their capital sums when direct investment in BTC yields far better returns?
