New gas boiler be a lot cheaper to run?

    Hi folks,
    We have an ideal gas boiler which must be approaching 20 years old. Kinda leaving it till it stops working before worrying about it. Are newer boilers a lot more cost effective to run?
    Would we see an appreciable difference in gas bills with a new boiler?

    About 10% maybe.. if your going to change the boiler look at getting heating controls as well that could save 30% on gas .

    You'll be lucky if your 20 year old boiler is running at 50% efficiency.
    New boilers run at up to 96% efficiency.

    Combined with multi zone heating you'll see a much greater improvement than 10 to 30%.

    We went from a 15 year-old oil boiler to a brand new one with multi zone controls last October. Oil consumption is down over 50%
