Glamour tie of the weekend. 1st proper test for City and their defense can expect a stern examination.

Being a tough few days for City with injuries to two key players Mendy and Aguero, yet can field a fairly strong team.

Should be a great game, Heart says 3-0 to city, head says 1-1.

Tight home win I'd say. Conte has been winning this sort of big league game for years, usually gets it tactically spot on.

Few players missing on both sides, Chelsea will miss Luiz, aside from his recent couple of brain farts he's been magnificent for them and probably the best deep lying defensive playmaker in the league.

Pep inexplicably favoured Jesus over Kun early in the season, until Kun proved to everyone how baffling that was, he'll be missed today for sure.

Just think there's a little more solidity in the Chelsea side, and in Hazard they have probably the man most capable of a moment of magic in a big game.

    2-1

I can't see Chelsea losing this but it may well be a draw. Agueros loss will be more than just the loss of a scoring threat, that news will have shaken the entire squad. I wouldn't be surprised if City made a very shaky start.

Am worried with Pep using Delph in left back as a replacement for Mendy.....sticky plaster stuff!

    Draw.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

  • Fancy Chelsea now that Augero is out
Just about tho. Depends on Hazard too.

    Draw.
With Vinny, Benji and Kun out, I'd take the draw right now.

I expect City to win, mainly because I feel the Athletico performance was so good it must of took a lot of the players. Hope I'm wrong.

Hazard was MOTM the other night, the 352 and free role suits him down to the ground.

Chelsea going with a different formation here or is Azpil just slotting in the Moses role for a bit more defensive cover?

I think it's the usual 5-3-2 just Dave gone to right back.

City playing an outrageously high line here, they musn't fancy Morata's ability to get in behind.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,292 ✭✭✭GreNoLi

Good game, two best teams in the country, Hazard and Morata combo looking dangerous.

If looks could kill Silva not happy with Jesus there.

    Shame that.

Look like an injury, seem to be clutching his leg to indicate pain.

I think he was referring to who replaced him not Morata going off.

  • BT have a hard on for City

This game is actually fairly level par

    boring enough so far

  • Conte was clearly standing on the pitch

    Funny rules

    That save was ridiculous

Chelsea look a bit leggy from an attacking perspective after midweek exploits but defensive shape has been excellent, Kante and Bak playing very well.

Cesc a bit of a passenger, I'd be taking him off and bringing Batshuayi up front as a focal point.

Chelsea pretty much parking the bus.

Not sure why you think I brought them into this instead of Mick, but hey ho.

    Underwhelming first half.

City totally dominant without creating much. Chelsea look leggy or tentative or something. Hard to believe they are the home team.

Hopefully the second half has a bit more spark.

Cmon Mick, we're both smarter than you pretending ignorance as to what incident you were alluding to. Anyway, this is adding nothing to the thread so I'll leave it there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

Christensen looks no nonsense. Chelsea really do have an embarrassment of riches at the back.

    Yea and so what

Recently a premier league manager (Jose) was sent to the stands for the same thing, big deal

I called the same situation in this match in its respective match thread, so I'm discussing it. Yes it does have everything to do with this game.

If you have nothing to add or discuss with me rather than sniping at me then get over it

We're on top here, but we need to take advantage of that. Because you can be sure Chelsea will carve out an opening or two before the end of the game.

Agureo loss is the difference IMO, still think City will just about nick this tho

Would love to see Gundogan get back to full fitness and back to prominence. He was one of my favourite players in Dortmund days.

He's a huge loss to us. He's just very, very good at knowing where the goal is. Our general play has been good this evening, but we don't particularly look THAT dangerous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,922 ✭✭✭suffering golfer

What the hell, why was he unmarked there. Very careless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,532 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

KDB is without question the best player in the league for me. Cracking goal, well deserved lead for City.

Chelsea looking really poor against big teams so far this season.

Yes City deservedly ahead. They look a much improved team this season
