Not sure but your Handle and Loving Room might be causing some aromas

Sulphur smell is often described as a rotten egg smell. Melting cables in an electric shower gives off this smell. I wonder if there is a loose wire in a socket or something overhearing

We used to get that smell and it was coming from the ceiling light sockets

I got that smell and the cause was an eroded anode rod in an electric water heater.
Particularly noticeable when taking a shower. Changed the rod and problem solved.

It's very likely that it is a Wiring problem. In the interest of Safety, you should notify your Landlord and have him get an electrician to check it out. It's better to be safe than sorry.

That's what it was for us as well. Changed the light fitting - no more smell.

Same here, but it was my own fault. Put A 100W incandescent bulb into a 40W holder. Less likely nowadays with LED/CFLs.

BTW, this was AFTER replacing the carpet :o . It was a box room, so it was impossible to locate the source of the smell. Not that the light would have occurred to me, someone else suggested it.
