Let's hear boards collective creative genius for making or creating something that is absolutely pointless but is brilliant in it own right.

    Il go first.

A digital picture or painting frame that has flowers that die over time like real flowers and you have to pay through an app on the frame for new flowers to be put on it.

Need to get a cleaner of some sort for hardwood/laminate/tiled floors and amid all the sales palaver of how brilliant such-and-such a Dyson is at cleaning such floors for €370, the thought occurred to me: surely an old-fashioned brush would be much better, and quieter, for cleaning hardwood floors than a noisy vacuum cleaner?

Yes, for carpets vacuums are best but maybe the vacuum cleaner's heyday has passed now that so many of us are shifting to hardwood etc floors?

I don't think anything in my lifetime was worse than recordable CD's. The print on them faded over time , a short time in fact which left them unusable and I have lost data as a result, not that that was life threatening.

I saw it mentioned in the Motors forum that touch screen displays in cars could be seen as a poor idea. In a car with switch/button controls you'll learn quickly enough how to control the heater or radio without looking. With a touchscreen you'll always have to take your eyes off the road to make sure you're making out the buttons.

Not major in the grand scheme of things, but food for thought at least.

Yes but they should invent no touch toilet door locks. Having to touch a lock which someone just covered in their fecal matter before you can drop your your own load isn't hygienic. And having inward opening doors to toilets should be banned, I've just sang "Happy Birthday" to myself twice while carefully washing my hands to then have to pull open a door covered in sh1te.

Food in general, veg in particular. While males were off hunting/fighting, the females remaining were looking for and growing veg to supplement the diets during the growing seasons. Then they were at the forefront of preservation of food for the non growing seasons when game and stock might not be as plentiful.
