Pinhole leaks in Copper Cylinder

    Help needed!!

I have recently had a pinhole leak in a copper pipe and I now have 2 pinhole leaks in the copper cylinder. The house was only built 9 years ago so the piping and cylinder are not to old.

Water from the house comes from a well. I have had the water tested and it has been determined that it is not corrosive and ph is neutral etc. Although copper levels in the water appear to be quite high.

I have looked inside the cylinder and I can see what appears to be corriosion inside pipes and cylinder it is quite green, with deposits of maybe lime on coil which appear green in color.

Can high levels of copper in water cause these leaks?? Anybody else ever experience anything like this??

Common problem with well water, replace it with a stainless steel cylinder.

Thanks, stainless steel tank has been recommended!

Sometimes a sacrificial anode is needed with a stainless steel tank and well water.

That's right all joule stainless steel cylinders from a well need an anode. They are called wellmaster.
Now they do cost another 300 euro!!!

Are they the glass lined cylinders?

Joule do require an anode and if you don't service the tank and replace the anode regularly they won't stand over the warranty. Check out dejong cylinders they can be fitted to any type of water supply no anode or no need to service yearly for warranty.

No proper stainless steel.. I believe there can be some impurities in well water that attacks the stainless steel (according to joule) and they will not cover their cylinders if it's not a well master.

I was in one of the suppliers and they were telling me this as it has come back up a few of their cylinders leaked after a year or 2 that was fed off well water.

Think it's the same for artificially softened water
