There is a cat that likes to drop in to see me. She sleeps alot. I dunno maybe 20 hours a day. Why do cats sleep so much. Does anyone have any interesting info on this phenomenon.

I don't think it's sleep in the sense that we know it, their senses are still on alert. So whereas humans get real sleep and need 7/8 hours of it, cats need twice as much because its only half-sleep. Hope that makes sense.

On a similar topic, what does it mean when a cat looks at you (typically after eating) with a kinda sleepy, slow blink?!?!? :)

They are very comfortable with you. It's their way of saying that you are good buddies now, and they are nice and relaxed where they are.

Oh wow really?! My little feral that's been through so much, I sit on the ground with her three times a day, while she eats, won't let me touch her, but does this blink every time!! Don't know if I'll ever get to tame her but will keep trying

Try blinking back a few times. I remember reading about the blinking thing working both ways.

Give the feral lowered eyelids slowly back...

You may even get a rub some time for your efforts... :)

    (if you are lucky!)

I love Jackson. His shows are excellent - he really is a cat man.

Cats are predators and like all predators only do stuff when hungry/breeding/patrolling territory/scratching the hell out of nice furniture etc, it would be a waste of energy otherwise! And since their mainly protein diet takes a lot of time and effort to digest why waste it doing pointless things, they are not in much hurry to do anything once their belly is full!! :D - not a bad life really!!!;) :D
