Eir FTTH Wifi taking too long to react (not necessarily slow), details inside!

    Firstly have a hardwired desktop and everything is fine, tested on multiple android devices next to the router and same results (and everything was fine before ftth).

    To give an example, netflix will play with no trouble when it gets going but it takes ~20s to show the list of films, same with youtube and all others. Apps start fine but its almost like the data isn't flowing for a few seconds.

    Speedtest shows no problems (again takes ages to load), ping and tracert from other apps are perfect.

    Enter a url in chrome/firefox and it hangs for ages.

    Changing security settings or channel doesn't make a difference.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Yeah it's the usual ipv6 dns issue. Just set your dns to 8.8.8.8 and will be fine.

    To avoid doing this on all clients you can do it on the router, but depends what model you have.

    Thanks, I tried changing just now but it won't save for some reason, but switched to ipv4 only and nothing has changed, besides surely it would affect the desktop and apps like netflix wouldn't use dns.

    This has all the symptoms of similar issues with other ISPs. With your config it tries to use ipv6 first for dns, eventually times out - then uses ipv4 and works instantly. Call support and ask them how to configure it. Need to make it not try ipv6.

    Ok changed it to ipv4 dynamic only and its working now, thanks all.
    I fkn hate this ****
