with all the scandal with actors and musicians etc should we lock away their work as well.

    I'm in two minds.
on one side you don't want to pay them royalties or have them in limelight

on the other you have all the work put in by other actors and staff etc that punished for the actions of one

for the likes of gary glitter where he was a solo artist so the punishment is fair
jimmy Saville had a team but it was mostly him on the telly

for the likes of bill Crosby there are loads of other people that have their carreres and lives depending on the programmes .

is it fair on the other actors etc that these shows are locked away

How do you lock away their work? TBH can't imagine any kind of audience for the Cosby Show anymore regardless of it being screened or not. The whole premise around the show was Bill Cosbys cuddly granddad, family man image. That's been ripped to shreds now. At the same time if people want to watch the fecking thing there should be nothing stopping them from doing so.

It's unfair. But if the other actors and actresses are anyway worth their salt they may be able to get roles elsewhere. Not much good to older actors.

Crosby show is a bad example. I couldn't think of a better one
by locked away I men no shown on telly, not out on online plyers, no videos or dvds released.

I'm sure all these things can be scoured in the depths of the internet but not to the general public

Yeah, you'd wonder about the lads in Lostprophets.....their earnings must have tanked after that whole affair.

I'm never in favour of banning something for the sole reason of the artist.

The same argument frequently comes up with regards to Hitler's artworks - but why would you want to ban a mature adult from looking at art? What can you learn from banning them?

What about Trump? Should we ban people from watching The Apprentice because most people despise him?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Banning it would actually draw attention to it and no doubt some silly people who gravitate to it because its banned.
Most of the work of these people won't be shown anyway, so it's a none issue.

    No, I'm not in favour.

Charles Dickens was incredibly cruel to his wife. He should be remembered for that - or rather, his wife should be remembered in the legacy that he left. His books should not be locked away however.

Wagner was a raving anti-Semite (who once waved the opinion that Jews were incapable of art), but his music is still glorious (I grant it was co-opted by the Nazis, so that's unfortunate. Despite being an anti-semite, he was not a Nazi) Same goes for T.S. Eliot and Edgar Degas.

http://totallyhistory.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/dance-class-at-the-opera-by-degas-large.jpg Should this painting be destroyed or locked away to ensure no-one sees the work of an anti-semite?

Lord Byron was apparently fairly misogynistic and also committed incest with his half-sister.

William Golding attempted to rape a fifteen-year old girl. Mind you, he also wrote Lord of the Flies, which isn't a point in his favour as far as I'm concerned, but I'm sure others differ! Anyway, it shouldn't be banned because Golding was an arse.

I doubt The Cosby Show will ever be popular with current generations. But that should be because people don't want to watch it and eventually forget about it rather than because it is banned.

Who is Bill Crosby? I think you mean Bing Crosby. Never knew he was a perv.

Actually Bing Crosby's son wrote a tell-all memoir alleging a litany of physical abuse by his father!

It's a tricky question all right though - I'm inclined to think: separate the art from the person. If not doing so became a thing, it could set quite a precedent.

Used to be jealous of all the kids getting a Jim'll Fix it badge. Wanted my family to be like The Cosby Show family. Even really wanted to be in Gary Glitter's gang for a while. Isn't it bizarre that we were all sucked in by these creeps?

There are scandals about how businesses operate all the time from health issues right through to corruption. For the most part, It doesn't stop people from buying their products.

It's a silly argument. A professionals work is separate from their actions in their private lives. I loved the Cosby show and any actions taken by the cast off the set means absolutely nothing to my pleasure watching the show. It's just another product... have you stopped buying Nestle products because of their actions in third world countries? nope. probably not.

The guys set up a new band with a new lead singer but I don't think they've been all that successful.
