Audi A4 - UK import

Looking for some opinions here. I'm importing a 2014/2015 A4 163 Ultra from U.K. and have narrowed to this one. Price has dropped by £500.

    http://www.motors.co.uk/car-46088735/?i=12&m=srs

It's coming from an Audi dealership and is covered by the Audi used approved scheme. I've had the RAC look at it. Some minor scratches and lipped brake pads. Also some corrosion showed up on the exhaust - this comes from salted roads?

    Thanks for any thoughts!

You pay a deposit on the cars in Car Giant...so there's a risk when you fly over the car you're looking for won't be there? I presume there is plenty of turnover on popular models?

The used car warranty from the UK Audi dealer isn't valid here afaik.

Also have you looked at cars other than the A4? The VW CC is a bit more stylish and more bang for your bucks. You will pick up a higher spec 2015 model for similar money to that A4:

Thanks Bazz. The warranty isn't valid in ROI but I spoke to dealers in the North who will honour it. Not too far of a drive for me. Always a risk buying from UK but at least that's some peace of mind.

My main issue with the CC is I've been driving a VW for the last 12 years...looking for a change!

    Haha fair point!!

At this stage I'm set on an A4. Given the feedback from RAC is there anything else I should be wary of or look out for?

Similar model in J Duffy (higher mileage) costs 24.5k.

I phoned Cargiant and said I was interested in the Audi. I made an appointment to inspect the car the following day, so had 24 hours to get there, which I did, by boat and train as it happens, as flights at short notice are prohibitively expensive.

Look for low mileage cars with a full main dealer service history in the UK, rather than being particular about the year and buying something newer but with more mileage...

I'd say with been an Audi main dealer and the RAC check I'd say every thing is covered and you should have not to worry about anything else. Audi will have it checked fully before sale.

Just a question for you. Was this Audi garage ok with you getting a RAC check done on the car?

They had no problem with it. Told me they were selling 2 cars a month to Irish buyers so I'd say they are used to it.

I've heard that from UK sale person before. Salesman will be a salesman, tell you anything to get the deal done. Did you ask are they happy to give you the V5 form when you are leaving with the car. Bought an Audi from Newcastle Audi last year and they had no problem with giving me the V5 when leaving and later in the year I bought a car from Arnold Clark in Wigan, said he deals with Irish buyers all the time, he had no idea about giving the V5 over and it was a long process with lots of emails and phone calls to talk then into giving me the V5 logbook. Just something to ask before you go over.

Good point on the V5. Hopefully won't be a problem but will clarify that.

They've sent me on a few pictures and videos. Some scratches on the inside aluminium and a few on the bodywork-nothing major. But really well specced with B+O Sound, folding mirrors, reverse camera. For the same price I'd get less spec but cleaner car. Which would you go for?

The low spec car in Ireland? If so I'd go for the higher spec UK car. Some nice extras on it. As I said before, Audi main dealer and RAC check you cant go wrong and for the mileage.

Nope lower spec in UK ie just the standard SE Technik spec. But slightly better condition.

You're right though...higher spec is the one to go for methinks.
