Local Needs

    Hi,
I have some savings and I'm considering buying a site and waiting for a few years to build. I currently live in a town and the area I'm interested in is around 2-3km away but in a rural setting.
I have heard the area was a Local Needs area but I have also heard that this rule is to be removed and I see that a number of local authorities have already removed it.
Is there any issue with buying a site and waiting for 5-8 years to build on it?
How would I find out about the local needs requirements?
    Thanks!

Hi OP - you need to view it this way:

    Local needs rules in force:
Nobody can build on the site except people with a local need.

    Local needs rule removed:
Nobody can build on the site.
