Painting A Re-Plastered Ceiling

I live in an old house. One of the bedroom ceilings was cracking so I tore it down and got a plasterer to re-slab and skim it. Everything went fine and the ceiling is now ready to be repainted. My question is: Can I just paint (with ordinary white ceiling paint) on to the dry plaster or do I need to put some sort of primer on first? Any advice appreciated.

I normally give it 2 coats of watered down ceiling paint first, then apply 2 coats of normal ceiling pain afterwards, never had any problems with peeling etc.

Generally mix some polybond into the ordinary white paint it works quicker than applying loads of coats of base coat.

Should be fine to paint straight on with 50/50 water/your final water based paint as couple of primer coats. Just go around with a scraper first if there are any blobs.

Edit: I'd leave the plaster a week to dry first if you haven't already done that.
