Cabin lights not coming on (unless used manually)

Sorry for dredging up the past - think I have a similar issue. Cabin lights not coming on at all. The feedback from the rocker switch inspires little confidence.

The lights themselves work when manually operated if that makes a difference. Just not with the door or lock/unlock.

    What's the checklist here?

    Fuse
    KL30 relay
    Rocker switch?

@John Electrician - did you get your issues sorted?

Try all the doors, not just driver door.
If no door activates light it is something central.

I moved your post out from old thread. Is your car also a 2004 VW Golf Tdi?

Narrowed it down to the rocker switch.. took the console apart.. but of fiddling and wahey the cabin lights sprang to life.
