How to check type of tenancy of house ownership

My partner and I have bought a house a while ago. I specifically asked the solicitor for a joint tenancy but he was very sloppy and often ignored what we were saying. I now want to make sure that he did as we asked but I'm not sure how to go about it. Would this info be in the deeds? If so, how do I check this given that the deeds are with the bank who we have a mortgage with? Thanks for any advice.
