Check out the marketplace sellers return policy on their page.

further down there's more that makes no sense...

    Aug 30
    Return started
    Sep 2
    Dropped off
    Jan 1
    Refund sent
    Jan 6-8

    Refund on your card
Your payment card company should've processed your refund by now.

January ??? what going there??....and there seems to be no way i can contact seller either which is strange

Unless it's eligible shoes or clothing Amazon doesn't do free returns.

they do often provide prepaid labels but their return policy advises they may deduct return postage.

The only exception to above is if the return reason is Amazons error, you got sent the wrong item, it was damaged or defective for example.

It seems you didn't understand the return policy.

unless they have stated on their page otherwise, returns to marketplace items normally incurs a return charge - especially for a DVD

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,067 ✭✭✭✭fryup

so the return charge exactly covers the cost of the DVD?? hmmm how convenient

and since when did it cost €5.54 to send a dvd to the uk?? nah this can't be right

I send stuff to the UK all the time & 5EUR seems on power to what it cost (along with any other 'admin' costs of the return); likely normally more so I expect that they just took the total of the item to save any hassle. Either way, sounds like the difference was so nominal that they didn't want to bother with refund/trying to get more for the return.

    Here's another one for you....

I sent back an item (small package) to hong kong 3 weeks back looking for refund.

The seller said he hasn't received it

The thing is i sent through regular post - no tracking number

So its basically his word against mine...do i have any comeback on this?

Item sold through Amazon, Cost €50

you're a wild one for sending stuff back; you'll be lucky as like you said, your words against his; amazon is a broker - putting you in touch with the sellers. you could try them & plead your case but don't be surprised if they don't want to help beyond 'contacting the seller' advice

the seller asked for a tracking number, i told him i didn't have one as it was sent back by regular post

all i have is the amazon return id...those that mean anything??

means nothing - return id is not proof of post.

Have the address? if its a HK address & seller then its up to them if they accept that as proof. Look at it from their view - you could be a chancer trying to scam 50EUR out of them

no address on receipt just says..an post: overseas World-wide Airmail Delivery €6.50

yes i know what you're saying, but whats to say he has the item and doesn't want to reimburse me ?

3 weeks ? surely they have it now ?

Don't be so sure - could be delayed in transit - all else fails; have a word with Amazon - they may do a gesture of goodwill

Without a tracking number you have no proof of delivery. Without that, you'll not get a refund unless the seller confirms receipt. Post to China could take up to 6 weeks, so wait a bit longer.

6 weeks?? it took 2 weeks for me to receive it

I had to return a Marketplace item to China - it was not as described, so I used that option to lodge my claim with Amazon. I made sure I contacted the seller through Amazon and had a paper trail of replies. When the seller asked me to use the cheapest possible return (no tracking) I spoke to Amazon CS first via webchat to confirm that this was acceptable. It was and I retained a transcript, just to be sure.

I took pictures of the item, the parcel, the return label and post office receipt and sent them to the seller. When no word was received back from them after 4 weeks, I got back onto Amazon (via email and chat) and they speedily refunded the cost of the item and the initial postage, but not what I'd paid to return it to China.

I stayed calm and polite and got back to Amazon again via webchat and a CS agent sorted my problem quickly and efficiently. I received a refund of the return postage I'd paid (about €10) a few days later.

Amazon are the best for customer service IMO and the reason why I place vast numbers of orders with them. I seldom have to return anything and I'd be very careful not to make a habit of it for no serious reason. CS agents are invariably polite and helpful, especially if you treat them with the respect and courtesy they deserve.

I simply described the item I'd received and referred to the discrepancy from what was advertised on the site. I started the process from my order page and gave as complete a response as possible. I didn't have to do any convincing - the item was not as described.

How did you approach the issue? Was there a problem with the item itself? If it was a change of mind scenario, then you didn't qualify for 'not as described'.

A-Z claim won't allow them to claim return postage for a change of mind return,

Looking on an posts site I would have expected to pay €6.50 to send it back, so looks like you got off lightly.

You would think they would have made it clear you were likely to end up with nothing though -as it is just wasting everybodies time and pissing the unaware buyer off.

I read amazon were blacklisting people sending loads of stuff back, that might have only been stuff with free returns though, like shoes.
