I was on the conference call with MOL this morning. Interesting stuff.

50 flights / week (from a total of 2500) are being cancelled during the next 6 weeks or so. Most likely hit will be routes with multiple departures (eg DUB - AMS, 4 deps per day).

He said they were working hard on looking at October cancellations, so your best bet is to look at something at the end of this month, as that would qualify due to it being within the requisite 2 week notice period.

Still, only a 2% (overall) chance and getting money from Ryanair? Tricky, you'd think.

Exactly like in a lottery... If the chance of winning is 2% - then the average payout from €10 bet is 2% x €410 (on longer European flight) - €8.20.

Still better odds than their own lottery....

I'd say the payout will be only 210 as they are short flights

Be quick, they're announcing the winners sometime after lunch. The flights that are being cancelled might have already been pulled.

    Best of luck!

The EU directive is very clear, €250 for flights under 1500km and €400 for over. Even if you opt to be rebooked or take the refund.

If you are rebooked onto another Ryanair flight that arrives under 2 hours later then your original flight, then you only get 50%.

As above, the cancellation needs to be less then 2 weeks notice.

All very clearly laid out on the Ryanair site and the claim form is quite visible. I'd say they're going to lose a fortune. Will be quite hard for them to get out of paying, it might take a while because of the amount of claims, but should eventually come through.
And my point was that most flights are less than 1500
