Do I have to move the gas meter?

In the process of buying a house. Currently the water meter is on the street, electricity meter is in the front porch but the gas meter is in the back yard.

The house is in D9, one of those old red brick houses with a tiny railed plot at the front. Do we have to move the meter to the front/side of the building to allow it be read from the street?

I have read the info on GasNetworks.ie but I am still not 100% sure.

If you are not altering the house, there is no requirement for you to relocate the gas meter.

Even if you are altering the house, there is no requirement to move the meter....just a good idea to move it.

As said, you are not required.
    Ours is under our stairs!!
Just make sure you send in the readings periodically (or let them in to read it). Otherwise you could end up with them underestimating it and ending up with a big payment to fork out when it does eventually get read.
    (I speak from experience :) )
