You don't mention the make and model, but the basic issue is that the nearside back brakes are not operating correctly. Without knowing the make and model, it's not possible to suggest accurately what may be faulty, as we don't know if it's drum brakes or disc brakes, which fail in different ways. As both the service brake and the parking brake are affected, something internal within the system is either stuck, jammed or seized, and as a result, one of the brake shoes, or one of the brake pads is not making contact with the drum/disk, hence the significant loss of braking effect. If you're not sure what to do, then you are going to need to get it looked at by a mechanic, to ensure that the fault is correctly repaired before it is retested.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

How can you be so sure just by the fail sheet? Is it a common fault with them cars?

I would agree with jca, It sounds to me like the brakes need to be replaced. When were they last done?

You need to take the car to a mechanic anyway before re-testing the car.

We havnt had them done since it was bought we checked the shoes it seems to be wearing more on the left side but the right side seems in good enough nick

Then not only do you need to get the brakes checked/replaced, you'll also need to get the tracking done. Shouldn't cost that much...

You need both sides in a reasonably good nick, and you definitely don't want one side being significantly better (imbalance).
