    Hi all,

I need to scrap a small car and I require a Certificate of Destruction.

The car drives so who in North Dublin is best to bring it to that will give me a few quid for it?

    tks

You will need to contact the various breaker yards in your location. Don't expect much for it though as scrap metal values are quite low.

If they are a legitimate breaker's yard then they should be obliged by law to issue one.

I just called into SummerHill Spares.
    They offered me nothing!

    how much tax is it?
naturally if you can sell it for the 10mths tax plus something then you'll be up.
Even if the breakers would give you nothing (except the cert of destruction), you're probably losing out on maybe a hundred euro (or 200??).

Or else you start stripping it down somehow yourself and selling the parts and you'll get more but you'll lose out on the tax refund (and you'll have a huge amount of hassle and soon an immobile wreck).

Maybe you can get some bits off it before bringing it to breakers? (more than half joking)

I've already stripped the parts worth saving.
    It drives fine though.
Tax back is worth about €280.
I'm just trying to find a breaker that will give me €30 as opposed to nothing.

i'll maybe go same route with a car in near future, so if you find a breaker that pays a bit more, maybe mention them (presume that's ok, or else PM).
Best of luck with the search, but don't lose sight of how much time you invest for €30 saving (also, by end of month you'll be down another month's tax)
