    Hi,

I will be moving out of my accommodation on the 30th September.

I was just wondering if I could offset my deposit against my final bill?

    Kind Regards,
    David

    Hi David,

Thank you for getting in touch.

A security deposit will automatically be applied against the closing bill.

Any credit left after this can be refunded via cheque or put towards another account.

In order to close your account, you can fill out the following online form.

Alternatively, you can contact us here on Boards.ie with the following information:
    • Your name as it appears on your Electric Ireland account
    • Your account number
    • The address you were registered for
    • The name and contact number of the person or company responsible for the property
    • The meter reading on the day you move out of the property
    • A forwarding address for the final bill

You will also need to confirm that you are the account holder.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,
    Aoife

    Hi,

So my agency said they would do the forwarding themselves. I. E. Transfer the accounts themselves.

What do you need from me in that case?

    Hi David,

Thank you for getting back to us.

A deposit will usually be returned within 14 months, but if there is a deposit on an account when it is closed, it will automatically be applied to the final bill. The customer does not need to request this.

You will only need to contact us directly should you wish to request a refund of any remaining credit on the account.

If you would like us to check the status of the deposit on your account, please provide the following details:
    • Your name
    • Your address
    • Your account number
    • Your contact number or date of birth
    • Confirmation that you are the account holder

    We hope this helps.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,
    Aoife

I'd do it yourself as if they don't do it right you will be liable

Get a meter read and submit to ESB yourself
