Mulching mower

I currently have an old disc mower and an off set topper. Looking at mulchers and the possibility of making topping skids for one. Has anyone used one of these as a topper to maybe make it a more versatile machine.

I think it wouldn't work because what you are topping would be tolite. A mulcher works better in a heavier weeds like rushes etc
