    Hi all
Know nothing about gardening - so am hoping someone can advise something simple I can plant in my city window box and hanging basket for the autumn/winter. Flowers not essential, just something that will last.
    Thanks in advance.

Variegated ivy, maybe an upright miniature conifer, few winter bedding plants.
    Cyclamen are nice too.

You'll have to transplant the conifer eventually,or else put it in a bigger pot or give it to someone as a gift.

Nice ideas there. There is a little conifer called Goldcrest, I think its a cypress, they are quite common you see them in supermarket plant displays and they are not expensive.
