Can you have an email address without a website?

I was given an email address for someone that ends in @clubi.ie

www.clubi.ie brings up nothing.

Just wondering, is it possible to have an email address that isn't a website?

Yes. You purchase the domain and set the mail address to a mail server hosted somewhere else.

Yes.

When you register any domain you get control of all its records. Its then up to you to point the A to some server hosting the site and MX (mail) to the server handling your mail. There's no obligation to set up any you don't want to.

For cleanliness you can redirect records too so email is Dinarius@companymail.com but www.companymail.com gives you company.com instead.

You can check if an email address is valid online. I use ip-tracker for basic look ups.

I got the person's email address this morning and haven't had a reply.

Was a bit concerned when the website was blank.

Anyway, will wait until tomorrow and check again.
