Looking at getting a laptop with these specs for video/audio production and gaming. Hardware has never really been my strong point :) … think it's pretty decent but not sure so I'm just wondering how good this would be:
    17.3" Laptop
Processor: Intel i7 7th gen 7700K Kaby lake 4.2Ghz (turbo up to 4.5 GHz) Quad 8 meg cache with HT
    RAM: 64 Gigs (4x16gig) DDR4-2400 Sodimm
    Graphics Card: NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX 1080 GPU with 8GB GDDR5X
    Video Monitors- LED/LCD: 17.3” 4K QFHD (3840x2160) Display with G-Sync Technology
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Professional 10 64 Bit OEM
    Hard Drive: Samsung 960 PRO 2 TB M.2 SSD: 3.42 GB/s Maximum Read Transfer Rate - 2.05 MB/s Maximum Write Transfer Rate - M.2

It reads to me like the best spec possible in a laptop at present. I would imagine it costs a whole pile of cash, but that is to be expected for that find of spec.

For every category listed, it uses the best component on the market. What does it cost, I'm guessing around €3,000.

There seems to be a problem in the hard drive description it says 3.42GB read, but 2.05MB write. That write speed is incredibly slow, Double check that, I think it should be 2.05GB write if it's MB it's not fast enough to save 4k video in real time if it is GB like I suspect it will be an unbelievably powerful machine.

That's an incredible spec and should do what you want, notwithstanding the write speed clarification as mentioned above.

Of course, as he Haydn's constantly in computers, in two years time the same machine will probably be bargain bin prices and nobody will want it because it's 'gutless and slow' :):)

Assuming you can afford to drop that cash on that machine, enjoy!

Yeah you're right about the write speed. Should read GB. Just a typo on the quotation email. :D
It's in or around 4500 overall from a company the specialises in audio production computers but it would include some software that they supply relating to music production.

Thanks for the clarification on the specs!

Totally understand that some of the componants will go down in price over the next few years but I'd rather have everything in top shape now and not have to worry about changing stuff out when they drop in price. Besides I have the money at the moment (just about!) so I'm not too worried about that side of things.
I realise the specs seem a little on the high side but some aspects of audio production can have a big drain on performance and I'd rather not have to worry about having to upgrade in a few years time when I decide I want to have something like 100 different virtual instruments with 20 different effects on each one all playing at once while I try to record a guitar on top :D
