Hi I'm looking for advice from anyone in the know, my fan belt snapped. Dash lights and alternator lights came on. The battery died after an hour of driving, do you think it will be OK once I fit the new belt

You drove for an hour without the water pump, what was the temperature gauge like?

Theres no gauge in the car, it's like onboard computer, it just said battery/alternater,stop Emmidiatly, web I did eventually stop the coolant was drained and the slighest bit of steam came from the engine, about as much steam as a cup of tea

The on-board computer would have a temperature gauge.
What do you mean the coolant was drained. Do you mean the expansion tank or the rad itself?
If you were driving on open road with out stop start traffic you should be okay. If you gave the engine a roasting, then it's scrap yard time.

Ye the expansion tank was totally drained not sure about the rad and yes it was all straight driving,no starting or stop until the battery went, iv a mechanic fitting a new one Monday so I'm see what happens, fingers crossed

Yes fingers crossed , but for future reference if you get a stop immediately message on the dash you should do so. Even if it does run with a new belt, there's a good chance of damage to the head gasket, or a warped head . The engine may have even ceased, how do you know it was the battery failure that caused it to stop. Has it got a dipstick or computer for checking the oil level. If it's a dipstick you can examine the oil for water contamination .

TBH I don't no if it was the battery but the last car I had the battery died while driving and it felt the very same, it wudnt rev up or move off then died, either way if I boiled the engine how would I no as there was no smell or symptoms, what do ye reckon yourself man,

Put a belt on and try it, simple as that. I would worry about the lack of water however, that sounds like it escaped somewhere, and that's not good !! !

Is the water pump driven by the aux belt on those or is it off the timing belt?

See if you can spin all the pulleys by hand, if you can you should be fine to fit a belt but there may be an issue with a warped/ seized pulley on one of the aux units that caused the old belt to snap.
