Tax advice needed please.

    I'm new hear , so go easy :) Looking for some tax advice. My wife and I have rental income here in Ireland and I will soon be starting a PAYE job in the UK. Currently we file our tax return jointly in Ireland.My wife will continue to live in Ireland and be tax resident here. I will work in the Uk

    Looking forward to the expert advice :)

    Yes , that would be handy 😄 My Q is would we be better off taxwise to separate our tax affairs and my wife declares rental income in Ireland where she's resident and I declare my Uk PAYE income in the Uk, I could be tax resident in either country as my job would allow me to spend approximately 6 months in both countries, I could feasibly have address' s in both countries also .
    I have strong ties to both also, hope this helps,.

    If you are working outside the country, generally you will be treated as 2 separate individuals for tax. However, the residence issue throws up some interesting problems.

    Is your wife working here, or just getting the rental income?

    Hi gerrybbadd,

    She has a very low income of approx 3k p.a....rent income is approx 25k.

    The only answer to your thread is actually in the thread title. You need tax advice. Proper tax advice. Not some ould guff from random punters online. Go get tax advice, from a tax advisor.

    You might get a good recommendation here, but that's about it. And tbh you'd be better to get a recommendation from someone you know.
